They can be used to display dolls, crafts, seasonal decorations, memorial keepsakes, and more.
About Mini Tatami
Tatami has been part of Japanese life for more than 1,300 years, evolving into a traditional form of flooring unique to Japan.
As homes and lifestyles have changed, rooms with tatami have become less common. Mini Tatami 〈Joe〉 was born from a wish to make tatami easier to enjoy in everyday life and to carry this culture into the next generation.
A mini tatami is not meant to be the main focus, but a quiet setting that complements the object displayed upon it. For more than 20 years, Chonan Tatami has handcrafted each piece in Japan with careful attention to this balance.
Available at GINZA SIX
From August 2026, Mini Tatami 〈Joe〉 is available at ippin on the first floor of GINZA SIX.
Chonan Tatami primarily sells online, and ippin is currently the only permanent retail location where you can see and purchase our mini tatami in person.
ippin is a select shop featuring traditional crafts and handcrafted items from across Japan. GINZA SIX is located in central Ginza, just a two-minute walk from Exit A3 of Ginza Station.
Finding ippin
ippin is located inside TERMINAL GINZA (the Tourist Service Center on the 1st floor of GINZA SIX), right next to the foreign currency exchange machine.
The exchange machine is small and easy to miss, so if you get lost, please ask any GINZA SIX staff member for “TERMINAL GINZA.”
